My understanding is that The Scarlet Woman and The Great Beast are posts rather than specific individuals. That is they describe certain functions related to the Great Work.
Jane Wolf describes her vision of what it is to be The Scarlet Woman in her biography put out by Red Flame.
I have felt for a few years that She is the key to Initiation, so that is why I want to see what the rest of you have to say about this. I have to say that when you enter the Silver Star you are presented with particular Women, and it took me a little while to figure out what was happening. I have figured out that she presents herself in strange ways. I think that AC was always chasing after Her, and I find that now I do too. There are ancient origins to this practise, and I have studied some of them. I want you boys and girls out there in cyberland to share experiences. I think that sex has nothing to do with spiritual enlightenment, and ultimate re-union with the divine sorce. The Goddes may show you the path but it is you that must tread it.

Well, I need some time to finish this and I think it will first appear in Croatian in one of their thelemic magazines. The point is that in the pre-patriarchal time, prior to the time Slavs come to the Balkan, in the region existed female based priesterhood called Babas. My idea is that witchcraft derived from them, and that it is influenced via Anatloa. I don't connect this with Lilith but with one other middle eastern Goddess. In this light Jack Parsons just re-contacted ancient Goddess Oriented current. Also, I am traing to connect this with medieval Bogomiles of Bosnia. The Scarlet Woman always reminded me of the Character "Babylon" in the Book of Revelations. It says in the Book of Revelations the following:
"[3] So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
[4] And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:

If you notice the woman sitting ontop of the seven headed Beasts' name is Babylon and is wearing scarlet. If you look at the A.'.A.'. Brotherhood Sigil you'll notice it's a septegram with the name "BABALON" written on it, a letter on each point. Sounds to me like it's a sigil representing Babylon writing ontop of the seven headed Beast in Revelations being "The Mother of All Harlots" and drinking the blood of the Martyrs of Jesus.
