SOTHIC CYCLES
As you may know in Cabbalistic creationist philosophy the infinite as it manifested/manifests is opposed by the sphere of Binah which acts as a restrictor or a formulator of boundaries. That is, Saturn, god of time eats His own children attempting to abort continuity itself. Apparently Saturn is a perpetual adversary to all things metaphysical and aims to drag us down to a leaden unbearably desolate meaninglessness which is the essence of despair I guess this is why Saturn is associated with Tav which the beginner occultist must confront as a means of shaking off the shackles of grinding mundanity. Colin Wilson calls this "the triviality of everydayness". Christ called Satan "the desolate one".
In Egyptian thought the god of evil is Seth who kills the reigning king Osiris in a fit of jealous rage. The Hawk-Headed Child god of course emerges from the corpse of Osiris to take his revenge and re-establish the natural order. Apparently Seth, Satan and Saturn are basically interchangeable.
Egyptian priests believed that each new age was the start of a new Sothic cycle that lasted 1,460 years i.e. 'Sothic' meaning related to Seth. 1321 BC was the beginning of such a cycle and it coincided with the beginning of the reign of strange looking Pharaoh Akhanaten.

Bluntly put, he banned worship of the gods and attempted to instigate the world's first monotheistic 'religion' but it wasn't about the expansion of the human soul, it was in fact an adoration to the physical Sun disk. His worship was not an 'opening of the khu'.

Any kind of backlash against polytheism tends to restrict and kill expansion of consciousness and is anathema to the human soul and human freedom. Ask any psychiatrist he/she will tell you that metaphysical reaching out has saved many a disordered mind. Furthermore mental disorders and perversions are absent in polytheistic communities but they are rife in modern Abrahamic "civilized" man. Akhanaten was basically an emissary of Seth (Satan) the god of materialism, the eater of the human soul and his reign was basically a botched attempt to introduce an age of singular materialism to the world (which would come; more on this later. It's well know that Ankhaten's cult were the embryionic stirrings of the latter Abrahamic religions. Abrahamic as in Setian. The IAO formulae is basically misleading logically speaking. Isisian ages give way to intolerant patriarchal ages ruled over by the god of jealousy Set which eventually corrode ...or more like explode in 'force and fire' as Osiris mutates into Horus 'the son'.
The enemy of this darkness that is Seth Satan is basically some sort of sun-king or sun god. Horus and Mithras are each a type of Sun god. Christ is some sort of sun god and naturally christianity is rife with descriptions of evil as darkness and Christ as the light of the world etc.
This is also incorporated in Thelema.

Apologies for double post as the site wouldn't accept the post as one.

David,

Could you please summarize in no more than three sentences what this post is suppose to be about.

"Ask any psychiatrist he/she will tell you that metaphysical reaching out has saved many a disordered mind."
The first thing they would probably ask is that you clarify what you mean by "metaphysical reaching out". It seems to me, purely anecdotally of course, that many a disordered mind is preoccupied by what I imagine you mean by this vague phrase. This forum alone has seen a preponderance of them over the years, after all.

"Furthermore mental disorders and perversions are absent in polytheistic communities but they are rife in modern Abrahamic “civilized” man."
You do know that there are extant polytheistic communities, surely. If so, then you must also know that mental disorders and perversions occur in them. That mental disorders and perversions were absent in ancient polytheistic cultures is a patently ridiculous assertion.

You might consider being more trepidatious when employing generalizations.

David, I might have added that it is nice to at least see you try to express yourself by writing something original. Assuming, of course, that you haven't kiped this from some unrevealed source/new guru.

Metaphysically reaching out is my definition of prayer and if you like, faith in some sort of higher benevolent being.

David, I might have added that it is nice to at least see you try to express yourself by writing something original.
Thankyou, my main source is Jonathan Black's apparent berst-seller The Secret History of the World which is the first i heard of Sothic cycles.

Could you please summarize in no more than three sentences what this post is suppose to be about.
Yes it's about Sothic cycles and their relationship to Thelema. If Akhenaten's reign coincided with the start of a new cycle of Seth 1321 BC and if the cycles are 1,460 years long then what if we analyse what happened at the start of the next two Sothic cycles? This was not covered in Jonathan Black's book by the way.

1321 B.C + 1,460 = 139 A.D.
139 A.D. + 1,460 = 1599 A.D.

Let me elaborate. As i was saying above earlier, 'the enemy' in Thelema are the harbingers of the forces of Darkness.
For example here is an excerpt from The ritual of the passing of the Tuat;

"Get thee back, depart, get thee back from me, O Apep!
Depart from the divine place of Ra's birth, where in is the
House of thy Terror!
I am Ra, terrible and triumphant.
Ra setteth, Ra setteth; Ra is strong at his setting.
Apep hath fallen; Apep the enemy of Ra is overcome

Seth is the enemy in the realm of darkness as is the Apep Snake of the forces of darkness and chaos.
As a form of confirmation bias and for fun I worked out the start of the next Sothic cycles. The next cycle began in 139 A.D. Yes the sun-god Christ had asserted himself circa -4 BC but his Gnostic philosophy was basically usurped by the forces of the Demiurge in the guise of the Roman Catholic Church. When exactly? That is, when did Christ's great anarcho ideas become a hierarchical patriarchal tool of evil? When was it usurped by the Demiurge Seth-Satan "the desolate one"?
From https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Catholic_Church ;

To resolve doctrinal differences among the competing factions within the Church, in or around the year 50, the apostles convened the first Church council, the Council of Jerusalem. This council affirmed that Gentiles could become Christians without adopting all of the Mosaic Law.[5] Growing tensions soon led to a starker separation that was virtually complete by the time Christians refused to join in the Bar Kokhba Jewish revolt of 132 A.D.

In other words the course for some sort of Christian church was set after this revolt. Anyway 139 A.D. A startling coincidence in relation to 'my' calculation. However give or take a decade or two the early Christian organization was becoming an intolerant sort of hierarchical set-up particularly following the death of the last Apostle;

c. 100: St. John, the last of the Apostles, dies in Ephesus.[4][5]
c. 110: Ignatius of Antioch uses the term Catholic Church in a letter to the Church at Smyrna, one of the letters of undisputed authenticity attributed to him. In this and other genuine letters he insists on the importance of the bishops in the Church and speaks harsh about heretics and Judaizers.
c. 150: Latin translations (the Vetus Latina) from the Greek texts of the Scriptures are circulated among non-Greek-speaking Christian communities.
c. 155: The teachings of Marcion, the gnostic Valentinus and pentecostal Montanists cause disruptions in the Roman community. Persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire continues.
c. 180: Irenaeus's Adversus Haereses brings the concept of "heresy" further to the fore in the first systematic attempt to counter Gnostic and other aberrant teachings.

Note how the intense innovation and acceleration of science and technology was peculiar to the West. This could not have happened without christianity's notion of 'enfleshment' i.e. the Divine Cretaor sent himself as it's son as a human being to Assiah. Oriental cultures could never have attained to the same technological achievement to the extent we have with the crucifixion as the crux (pun intended) of our civilization's world view. Although e.g. the Chinese invented and used gun powder and the wheelbarrow, the East had totally different attitude to Nature and man's relationship to it. China or India could not have produced a Newton which leads me conveniently to the next Sothic cycle which started in 1599 A.D. Any schoolboy worth his salt knows that the beginning of the modern scientific-materialist world view was not the 20th century or the Victorian era but was in fact the 17th century; the 1600s. Newton was born in 1643 A.D.

Apologies for double post but i think the photobucket images must eat up data?

Anyway following from the above about the 17th century;

William Blake recognized how the human soul was being gobbled up by this materialistic-scientific world-view. He warned of the dangers;
"Now I a fourfold vision see And a fourfold vision is given to me Tis fourfold in my supreme delight And three fold in soft Beulahs night And twofold Always. May God us keep From Single vision & Newtons sleep."
Blake also recognized the new grim toil and slavery involved in Newton's new mechanistic world. He coined the term "dark Satanic mill" in his Jerusalem.
And did the Countenance Divine,
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here,
Among these dark Satanic Mills?

On the subject of liberty from oppression i.e. the machinations of the Demiurge and the forces of Light, below is a priest of Mithras sacrificing the Bull of materialism to the Sun god.

Note the the cap. It's ancient. It's called a 'Phrygian cap' and it was later adorned by those affiliated with the struggle of the Parisean working class in the French Revolution. No doubt this was introduced by Masons who were involved with relief for the suffering city dwellers.
Cap of the sans cullotes below;

This cap actually features on the flags of countries which have been involved with the abolition of slavery. It represents Liberty and here's short YouTube video on the matter. Yes that is Papa Smurf. Lol.

Perhaps it is a generalization in that the Freudians who first posed this theory (probably stimulated by anthropologist Lewis Henry Morgan) could not have had access to absolutely all of the behavioural data of all matriarchal polytheistic societies that ever existed.

The fact is sociology and anthropology are not exact sciences such as physics or chemistry in that they rely more upon generalizations from research which is specifically more qualitative.

This is probably the first time ever that anyone (i.e. myself and please correct me if I'm wrong) has produced some sort of direct cyclical link between

1. Seth-Satan
2.the Pharaoh Akhanaten and
3.the cult-tool of (Gnosticism's) Demiurge and
4. Newton's scientific material-reductionist mechanistic revolution.

1321 B.C + 1,460 = 139 A.D.
139 A.D. + 1,460 = 1599 A.D.

Each cycle of Seth was said to be the return of the great Bennu Bird who would herald a new civilization, a self-created being said to have played a role in the creation of the world and arising as a Phoenix. (literally as some believe it inspired the latter Greek myth of The Phoenix).

"This is probably the first time ever that anyone (i.e. myself and please correct me if I’m wrong) has produced some sort of direct cyclical link..."

So what? You've presented nothing that even remotely resembles a coherent argument for any particular point. Consider your response to my request for a summary of your initial post: "Yes it’s about Sothic cycles and their relationship to Thelema. If you're looking for someone to take this seriously, demanding that they do so is going to get you nowhere. I haven't much to add beyond that except to defer you to yourself: "Could you make cogent coherent points and explain yourself properly? If you can’t or won’t then you must have a lot to hide. It’s trolling basically."

I am only arguing a point insomuch as I am presenting a pattern an (imo) interesting pattern or astronomical cycle attributed to Seth, materialism (the smothering of 'the human soul') and The Bennu Bird which was believed to instigate new civilizations. I've already shown the links and I'm not attributing philosophical validity to them as such. However if someone is able to tell me that the links between these three events don't match up then I'm open to debate.
