our power went out last week but not from heat, from idiots in either cable or energy trucks (the irony!) driving their truck with the boom elongated (where the men sit up high to work on power lines) and so not suprisingly it got tangled in the power lines leading to no power for a lot of us. idiots 😀
as far as perdurabo since i ordered it later than most i expect it tomorrow or the day after 😀 im excited to read this as everyone keeps touting it as the best AC bio and I have read quite a few as I know you all have.
And Paul you probably didnt notice my question is all, so , the reading circle how does it work? We have set schedule or chapters or?August 13, 2010 at 5:22 am #59539
the book is very good so far! Around page 50 after an hour which is fast reading for me. The type is kind of small but I am glad he packed so much information in so give and take!August 13, 2010 at 3:36 pm #59540
Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law,
I just got mine today. I will start reading it tonight.
Wonderful pictures, and seems to be a well researched book. I am one who never owned the first edition, never read it.
On to read I go!!!

As per my initial post, let’s just start with the Acknowledgements and stick with them until enough copies have been delivered to allow others to join in.August 14, 2010 at 12:28 pm #59543

Copies have made it (by Pony Express) to the hinterlands of Buffalo, New York, USA.
Thank you, Dr Kaczynski. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Predurabo? I thought only Paul got advance copies.
Mine is forecast to arrive September the something. Keats says that a Thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever so I have to not mind.

More often than not, I type faster than I think 🙁August 17, 2010 at 7:19 pm #59548
I was pleased to find my signed copy of Perdurabo from Weiser Antiquarian in the mailbox yesterday. Even being sent media mail it arrived quickly. Currently in the middle of chapter three.August 18, 2010 at 12:13 am #59549
not only is it a beautiful work but at long last, a photo of Roddie Minor and after a recent thread regarding no photos of her having circulated. She lived to 95 and died in 1979.August 18, 2010 at 12:32 am #59550
A photo of Roddie Minor you made me real crazy, I shall have this book, only recently ordered (17′ of August 2010), and than can see for myself, it will take eventually a considerable amount of time when I shall read this book, I have so much else to read, but anyway looking forward to having it, so that I can read it later. . . , best wishes.August 18, 2010 at 1:55 am #59551
At around page 500, enjoying it very much.
Perhaps we need another thread (yes gah another) strictly of readers reviews and discussion, of those who are currently reading it or have read it, as this thread has turned into a `OMG I got it` thread.August 18, 2010 at 2:09 am #59552
I don’t suppose a new thread is necessary – it will get going when enough people get the book.
Maybe its time to start chatting about it. Someone offer some thoughts…I don’t have my copy yet but I will chime in with something that I hope proves to be insightful when I do 😉
