I recently came across this short story that I thought people might enjoy.  It’s fictional but contains some very well researched material on Crowley and the mountaineering characters in it are all drawn from people I’m sure he would have met when climbing in the Lake District in his youth.  It’s available for a few pence from Kindle and well worth a read.  It’s written by Alex Roddie who is a specialist in Victorian mountaineering History.

For a limited time only (the next seven days I think) this story is available free for Kindle on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crowleys-Rival-ebook/dp/B00AP5SBR4

What a totally entertaining short story. Not that I know very much about Mountaineering but I sure as hell was enthralled with this, almost historical tale. Sorely tempted to buy the  “The Only Genuine Jones” book now. Amazing how the author elaborated on actual diary entries and notes from Jones and Crowley. Also a mention of Oscar, as the author makes a tangible link of probably AC’s initial contact with the man, tho he may not have realised. Totally believable and exciting descriptions of climbing. Not that I would know too much mind you!

Grab it while its free, it may wet your appetite!

The full version of the book itself below.
