I have been trying to buy the old deck of Thoth. The large cards without the white border on the back that contains the extra magus/magician card/cards that came in the white box

I thought I got lucky because an ad on ebay showed the case that I remember but when it arrived it was a new deck in a green box, with the border and no extra card....

could anyone point me in a direction to pick one up as cheap as possible.. thanks in advance

only heard of the large deck with borders and the small deck with borders
the small deck has the extra magus card
and the colors are better
but since they are smaller sometimes i use the larger deck

Keith had two decks when I met him, thoth and mythic tarot

I still do a lot of work with the greek myths

nowadays you seemingly can only get the decks with the borders what I am looking for is the old decks with the 2 magus cards and the magician card

that's the back of them above ..

3 magus

hmm Im sure one is magician in one of my old decks...

and this is the box they came in... a bit like virginity.. I still have the box mine came in.. oh mybad that wicked humour of mine strikes again

but i do note on that box it also mention magician

it also is about the quality.. the old ones pictured above feel different.. thicker board, higher quality better gloss

Dwtw

The white box you show is from the 1986 printing;
it is playing-card size and does indeed have 3 Magi cards,
but there is also a thin white border on the back.
The previous white box, in the larger size, is from 1978;
that deck has no border on the back,
and is often known as the "greenie" deck.

There was no version that had three Magi and no back border.

Yes, the one I am looking for is the large size. I perused deck info but couldn't find the deck mentioned that i was looking for.

I have seen on google the green tinged cards is this the one mentioned here? The cards I am looking for did not have that green.

now you are challenging my memories... *puzzled* I am sure it had the three... I remember Keith saying something about it being unusual because it had the three. ... no border though

thank you for your reply ..it is appreciated

The first one with three versions of the Magus was the 1986 one. It was in a white box, but it was pocket sized. The back borders were bounded in white. All versions, even the 1969 Weiser, had rounded edges, there were no square borders like you show in the first post above. Those must have been "trimmed", as it is called by people who like to do that. They also cut the borders off the fronts, so that there is no border or names at all, just art all the way to the edge.

This page shows all the editions, I believe -

There are other pages that compare all of the editions, I'll post the links when I find them.

Two more comparison links.

Includes remarks on the earliest history by Carl Llewellyn Weschcke, founder of Llewellyn (he died in 2015), who was involved since 1969.

Me too. You have to know the exact URL for what you want. It is therefore very useful for dead links when you find them; just copy and paste the URL, and see if it is archived.

Yes I have used it successfully for many dead links that bring up goldmines ... Apparently there is a beta version that you can do a historic search using keywords.. I have applied to be a beta tester for it.. no reply...

https://archive.org/advancedsearch.php <--- sort of like this if it works properly

Im stuffing this posting thing up somehow..my post disappears when i edit I think it might be a link thing..

@shiva It’s like being in the United States Army, where I went, where the unofficial motto is Hurry up and Wait!

"ticking away the moments that make up a dull day"... "one day you find ten years have got behind you no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun"...

I love floyd they are so identifiable with their deeper thoughts magick musick ... ... *grins takes me back to 15 tripping alone in my room listening to dark side of the moon and contemplating the universe... and then one day you find, 40 years have got behind you... missed the whole race let alone the start.. lol

Best thing I beta tested was gmail way back in the early days of the web..... hence the astrologist, numerologist, australiaone gee mails.. 😀

but to what you said.. Im finding anything "official" is unofficially hurry up and wait.... family court is a riot for it... army would drive me crazy.. Im a creator.. once I know how to do something the over and over drives me mad..I want to learn something new. create something awesome.. and yes I am taking serious steps for the first time in my life at self discipline, thanks in part to you.. I would like to ask you something yoga'ish... so will email...

I'd go AWOL and find some nature to hide in...

S2 (16) is a cadet .. Im proud of him ..he was promoted to lance corporal last I knew... he is the most autistic of autistic.. was first diagnosed at 3 then about 6 more times.. .. I guess that regimentation, routine and order suits him.... but then again .. take a look at this if you have time and remember my post about him being the most like me imagination wise... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrAhOTDakn4
