The next section are secondhand titles, again, if available at a higher price previously, that price has been struck through. Finally, a short section of books from the library of the late Dave Evans. All proceeds from the sale of these books go to the Museum of Witchcraft so give generously. NB. PLEASE NOTE ALL POSTAGE FOR SALE ITEMS IS AT COST. Please email with your list of titles and I will reply with postage cost. As always, if you are not in the UK, please don’t pick 20 titles and then be surprised to find the postage far outweighs the value of the books!!!

THE COMPLETE GRIMOIRE OF POPE HONORIUS

David Rankine and Paul Harry Barron (eds)

1st 2013 248pp Avalonia Press hardback in d/w. Signed by authors.

This being a partial translation of Wellcome MS 4666, with numerous additions translated from the French editions of the Grimoire of Pope Honorius dated 1670, 1760 & 1800, and a new translation of the German edition of 1845.

With introduction and commentary. The Grimoire of Pope Honorius is the first and most important of the French ‘black magic’ grimoires which proliferated across Europe in the 17th-19th centuries. Combining a grimoire of conjurations to demons of the four directions and seven days of the week with a Book of Secrets full of simple charms, the Grimoire of Pope Honorius was second only to the Key of Solomon in the influence it exerted on magicians, charmers and cunning-folk in both rural and urban France. £45.00 £32.00

PRIEST/ESS: IN ADVOCACY OF QUEER GNOSTIC MASS

Michael Effertz

1st 2013 102pp Luxor Media hardback. Blue textured cloth, with gilt titling to the spine and front board. Black and white frontispiece. Ltd. Ed. 220 copies.

Priest/ess harkens back to the ‘mirrors for princes’ literary tradition and offers in-depth philosophical, magical, sociological and historical analyses of gender roles in the central ceremony of Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.) with an aim toward motivating the reformation of O.T.O. policy to openly embrace queer celebrations of the Gnostic Mass. In addition to a series of original essays, Priest/ess includes a robust and suggestive collection of citations from the source material, including the diaries of Aleister Crowley and the writings of Sabazius, current National Grand Master General of United States Grand Lodge O.T.O. While Priest/ess directly addresses the O.T.O., its peerlesss exploration of gender and sexuality in the Gnostic Mass specifically and Thelema generally makes it an item of interest for Thelemites worldwide.” Also includes  a 36 page booklet “The Argument That Took the Wrong Turning: A Vindication of Priest/ess and Queer Gnostic Mass in Reply to T Polyphilus” by Michael Effertz. £25.00 £15.00

INSIDE SOLAR LODGE, BEHIND THE VEIL

Frater Shiva

2012 314pp Desert Star Temple trade p/b. Illus.

Solar Lodge was arguably one of the most controversial of the many occult groups that sprung up in 1960s America. It was founded by a student of one of the original initiates of Agape Lodge of the O.T.O. and taught a system of magick closely based on that of Aleister Crowley. The author, Frater Shiva, joined Solar Lodge at its inception and rose through its ranks before leaving at the time of its implosion in 1972. In 2007 Frater Shiva released “Inside Solar Lodge – Outside the Law,” a book which is part reminiscence, and part “insider history” of the group. At the time of publication Frater Shiva was reticent about chronicling all aspects of the group’s activities, in particular their uses of a “silver talisman,” “Ceremonial Magick,” and “Legal LSD.”

This new publication contains the complete core text of “Inside Solar Lodge – Outside the Law,” largely expanded (to nearly double the size) by Frater Shiva, and adds new insights by former Solar Lodge members Frater Taurus, Frater Jon, and Frater Anubis, as well as Thelemic commentator and author Jerry Cornelius. It also includes a new Foreword by Martin P. Starr, and (mostly) different illustrations to those that were published in “Inside Solar Lodge – Outside the Law.” £19.99 £12.00

Containing a number of illustrations, it is the third book in Michael Howard’s Witchcraft in the British Isles series. £15.99 £10.00

KAFOU: HAITI, ART AND VODOU CATALOGUE

1st 2012 248pp Nottingham Contemporary hardback in dust wrapper. Prof. illus in colour.

This exhibition catalogue (actually a substantial hardback book) traces the extraordinary history of Haiti’s popular art over seven decades, from pioneers like Hector Hyppolite, Philomé Obin, Wilson Bigaud and Georges Liautaud, promoted in the 1940s and 50s by André Breton and the Surrealists, to exciting contemporary figures like Myrlande Constant, Edouard Duval- Carrié, Frantz Zéphirin and the Atis Rezistans group. Its focus is the abiding significance of Vodou in the art of Haiti’s urban and rural poor. Haitian Vodou has been a constant source of inspiration and imagery for Haiti’s popular art, and that art is often at its most visionary and inventive when reflecting its influence. Furthermore, Vodou, which is practiced in some shape or form by most Haitians, is key to understanding Haiti’s culture and history. The book documents a major exhibition presented at Nottingham Contemporary in 2012 curated by Alex Farquharson and Leah Gordon. Kafou means crossroads in Haitian Creole, a key concept in Vodou. £25.00 £15.00

FOSFOROS

Johannes Nefastos

1st 2012 226pp Ixaxaar hardback in dustwrapper. Ltd. ed. 1100 copies.

From the publisher – “One of the most intellectually sophisticated and in-depth texts of modern Satanism/ Left Hand Path and its spirituality ever produced. This valuable occult study delves the student of the Left Hand Path into a comprehensive philosophical system providing a Study on the Being & Essence of Satan, exploring topics such as the Philosophy of God, Philosophical Anthropology, Eschatology, Metaphysics, Cosmology, and various other subjects of Satanism and Mysticism that will guide the serious seeker to form a complete worldview. With the aim of total unity and of understanding opposites, considering even the most wrathful arguments of the downward path of the soul’s death in an unbiased way, Fosforos seeks to build on the fundamental doctrine of Oneness: the quintessences of both the Right Hand Path and the Left Hand Path are herein joined into one amalgam, as they have always been in the heart of a true aspirant. £44.99 £35.00

THE CATECHISM OF LUCIFER

Johannes Nefastos

1st 2012 82pp Ixaxaar small hardback. Ltd. ed. 1200 copies.

The Catechism of Lucifer was written as a counter-gospel for the Evangelical Lutheran catechism, but in addition to this, it represents a Gnostic form of Satanism on its own. In this book is outlined the path out of worldliness, out of theology mortally wounded by its false theodicy, even out of humanity taken as something small-minded, powerless and petty. The Catechism of Lucifer is founded upon the idea that by hating the perverted picture made of God by the Christian doctrine, we may truly attain higher possibilities for our Spiritual development and Empowerment. On this demanding but beautiful and meaningful path we are led by our innermost potential of ingeniosity, the divine Master Lucifer. £34.99 £25.00

TRADITIONAL WITCHCRAFT – A CORNISH BOOK OF WAYS

Gemma Gary

2012 224pp Troy hardback. No d/w as issued.

Traditional Witchcraft – A Cornish Book of Ways is a 21st century version of traditional Cornish witchcraft, of the kind recorded by Hunt, Bottrell and others. This is no neo-pagan or modern wiccan manual, but rather a deep drawing up into modern times of some of the ancient practices of lore and magic practiced by the white witches, charmers, conjurers and pellars of the Cornish villages. Topics include the Cunning Path, the Dead and the Underworld (Fairy Faith), the Bucca, Places of Power in the villages and landscape, the Tools used by Cunning Folk (working versions of what can be seen, for example, in the Museum of Witchcraft), Village cunning, substances and charms, and Rites of the Year’s Round. £24.99 £17.99

AUSTIN OSMAN SPARE EVOLUTION VOL. TWO

Stephen Pochin

1st 2013 220pp Mandrake square format hardback. Prof. illus.

A fearful asymmetry, the peculiar stylistic innovations of an Edwardian symbolist. Afterword and commentaries by Dr. William Wallace. The aim of the Evolution series is to demonstrate that Spare’s art (and also his occultism) did not exist in a vacuum and in A Fearful Asymmetry, the second volume in the series, Austin Spare’s bookplates are closely scrutinised to provide a deep contextual insight into many of the artist’s most intimate preoccupations. Amongst the most constrained works of any artist’s output is usually ‘the bookplate’ being predominantly tailored, controlled and mediated by the desires of the commissioner. The artist is therefore required to interpret and encapsulate, the rank, interests or self-perceptions of his client whilst remembering that he must create a ‘visual ambassador’ to proclaim the book owner’s interests. Spare produced countless artworks comprising of drawings, paintings, pastels and dozens of sketchbooks but it is his bookplates which reveal a dependence upon patronage to survive as an artist in London, through two world wars. His five published books represent the development of his ethos and magical praxis but it is his devotion to graphic reproduction, used to convey his personal vision, which is reflected in the bookplates. £50.00 £30.00
