VENEFICIUM: MAGIC, WITCHCRAFT AND THE POISON PATH
Daniel Schulke
1st 2012 Three Hands Press h/b in d/w. Illus. Ltd. ed. 1250 copies.
Veneficium concerns the intersection of magic and poison, originating in remotest antiquity and reaching into the present day. Beyond their functions as agents of bodily harm, poisons have also served as gateways of religious ecstasy, occult knowledge, and sensorial aberration, as well as the basis of cures.
Allied with Samael, the Edenic serpent of first transgression whose name in some interpretations is ‘Venom of God’, this facet of magic wends through the rites of ancient Sumer and Egypt, through European Necromancy, Alchemy, the arcane the rites of the Witches’ Sabbath, and modern-day folk magic.
Of particular note to this study are the herbs of the so-called ‘Devil’s Garden’, bearing relation to the witchcraft concepts of the Graal of Midnight, the Witches’ Supper, and the Unguentum Sabbati, the flying ointment of the witches which has exerted fascination over scholar, historians, and practitioners alike.
Beyond consideration of the toxicological dimensions of magical power, the concurrent thread of astral and philosophical poisons are also examined, and their resonance and dissonance with magical practice explored. Veneficium will be of interest to students of magic, witchcraft, alchemy, botanical folklore, medicine, and occult pharmacology. £34.99

AT THE CROSSROADS
1st 2012 200pp Scarlet Imprint. Black and white cloth with red blocking. Prof. illus. inc. col. Ltd. ed. 800 copies.
What happens when Western Magic intersects with the African Traditional and Diaspora religions?
The collision and fusion is documented in the work of sixteen magicians and artists whose approaches vary from the most traditional to the wildest avant garde.
Nicholaj De Mattos Frisvold, Jake Stratton Kent, Aaron Leitch, Stephen Grasso, Michael Cecchetelli, Eric K Lerner, Kyle Fite, Richard Ward, Humberto Maggi, Drac Uber and Ivy Kerrigan, Ryan Valentine, Hagen Von Tulien, ConjureMan Ali, Chad Balthazar and Angela Edwards.
Spanning Santeria, Voudon, Palo and Conjure, to the Grimoires, Alchemy, Cunning Craft and the Greek Magical Papyri, there are a staggering diversity of approaches to consider. This collection answers the question about what the future shape of magic will be with living examples of practice, ritual and art. Whether you agree with all of the strategies employed or not, what is certain is that this process is accelerating and unstoppable. £44.00

CLAVIS ARCANA MAGICA
Frederick Hockley, With an Introduction by Alan Thorogood.
1st 2012 84pp Teitan Press h/b. Illus. No d/w as issued. Ltd. Ed. 650 numbered copies.
Clavis Arcana Magica is an unusual text for Hockley in that it is largely concerned with what might be considered “black magic.” As Alan Thorogood describes in his Introduction, it gives instruction for the performance of a number of magical workings, the details of which were said to have been obtained for Hockley via his seer Emma, during a series of scrying operations undertaken between 1853 and 1856. The workings are preceded by instructions including the form of the “call to the crystal,” the exorcism and the discharge. The first working outlines a method to call the spirits of five material substances or organisms for the purpose of receiving cognate visions, the second is a variety of praestigia for the revivification of animal as well as plant species, the third outlines the construction of a talisman which permits the operator to enter the “spirit state” while asleep, and the fourth is necromantic ritual said to be “of marvellous power and force.” This first publication of the text comprises an Introduction by Alan Thorogood, followed by a typeset transcription of the text of the manuscript, with explanatory footnotes, etc., and a facsimile of the original Hockley manuscript. £37.50

THE LEAPER BETWEEN
Andrew Chumbley
1st 2012 Three Hands Press trade paperback.
“You ketch a hopping toad and carry that in your bosom till that’s rotted right away to the back-boon. Then you take and hold that over running water at midnight till the Devil he come to you and pull you over the water… and then you be a witch and you kin dew all mander of badness to people and her power over ’em.”
So spoke Tilly Baldry of Huntingtoft, an English wise-woman of the 19th century, describing the ritual of obtaining the witches amulet known as the toad-bone. Known to rural folk magicians and secret societies such as the Society of the Horseman’s Word, the exacting ritual of killing a toad to obtain the bone of power has been documented in various forms and cultural milieus for two millennia, though its origin is likely far older. Focusing on extant forms in Britain and Europe, Chumbley traces the metamorphosis of the toad-bone amulet from its beginning as a talisman for controlling animals to its ultimate manifestation as a conduit of diabolic power of the ‘Toad-Witch’. The first academic study of this little-known aspect of folk magic, The Leaper Between is here presented in unabridged form, newly typeset in several fine bindings worthy of its fascination. It will be of interest to students of comparative religion, magic, and folklore alike. £12.99
A limited number of deluxe editions will be available. Price will be £65.00

QABALAH, QLIPHOTH AND GOETIC MAGIC
Thomas Karlsson
3rd. ed. 2012 pp Ajna Bound trade p/b. Illus.
Qabalah, Qliphoth and Goetic Magic is a unique practical introduction to magic. The main thread of the book is the exploration of the Qliphoth and the dark mysteries which have for so long been a repressed part of western esotericism. Instead of ignoring and denying the dark side, the author reveals, step by step, how man can get to know his Shadow and, through this, reach a deeper knowledge of the Self. By exploring and not by repressing the Shadow it can be transformed from a destructive force into a creative power. This third edition features new art and additional material. £20.00

Liber Lilith charts the disintegration of a German occultist, Karl Steiger, who in mysterious circumstances comes across an ancient Gnostic grimoire, long considered lost. This contains the stunning revelation that it was Lilith, Queen of Hell and Mother of all Demons, who fashioned Adam from the clay of the earth, and who visited Eve in the form of a great serpent to teach her the secret wisdom of Heaven. The grimoire reveals in detail a system of sex magic taught to mankind by Lilith, by which she may be summoned as a lover and teacher. The book opens with an introduction by the editor of Steiger’s journal, and follows with a reproduction of the grimoire itself. Next comes the working journal of Steiger, revealing the progress of the occultist as he discovers this lost necromantic grimoire, steeps himself in its shadows, and is beguiled by the glamours of Lilith. He is compelled to put into practice the rituals as set out in the grimoire, and he gradually succumbs to madness as Lilith answers his call. £295.00
