Contemporary reviews say of it "So packed with ideas it is not possible to give any adequate résumé of its contents" and "An attack on the values which science is so successfully imposing upon civilization."

  • 1901 - AC commences three day silent meditation under Bennett's instruction.
  • 1901 - "Began mental muttering of 'Aum Mani Padmi Hum' while meditating on Buddha. This developed into Pratyaharic Dharana; loss of ego and a vision of mysterious power; loss of all objects mental and physical. I do not know how long this lasted. I woke meditating on Anahata. The voice of Nada was like a far-off solumn song; it became Aum only, dropping 'Mani Padmi Hum' and then was more like thunder without harmonics."
