On the 4th of December 2015 e.v. in Skopje, Macedonia Henrik Bogdan, Associate Professor at the University of Gothenburg, will give a lecture on “Western Esotericism and Rituals of Initiation”.
“The performance of rituals of initiation is an integrated part of institutionalized forms of esotericism from the early eighteenth century onwards. In this lecture the academic study of Western esotericism will be presented, and it will be discussed how this is related to the study of so-called masonic rituals of initiation. More specifically, the lecture will deal with the function of secrecy and discourses on absolute knowledge or gnosis in Western esoteric rituals of initiation.”
The professor is hosted by the Civic association for the study, preservation and promotion of the world’s esoteric traditions, ALEF Skopje.
